Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationship between self-esteem, gender-streotype activation, violence perrception, and date violence coping types among college students.

Method: Subjects of the survey were 211 of one college students in Geonggi-Do. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires. Measurements for this study were used self-esteem scale, gender-streotype activation scale, violence perception scale, and date violence coping types scale among college students. For analyzing, SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson¡¯s correlation.

Results: The study results were shown that there were positive correlation self-esteem and active regulation of date violence coping types, and gender-streotype activation, violence perception, and passive regulation of date violence coping types.

Conclusion: Considering relationships of these variables need to be develop the strategies for enhancing self-esteem and violence perception, and decreasing gender-streotype activation.
